Questions to Jim Parker

You’ve already lived in many different places around the world – what do you like most about Switzerland, particularly?

Jim: It’s calmness and it’s beauty. When returning to Switzerland after a trip away the first thing that strikes me is how relaxed I feel – everything works, it’s peaceful and easy. And then I walk through the streets to my home, taking in the magical views of the lake, rivers and mountains, it’s a very special place!

What makes wedding photography special to you?

Jim: Before focusing on weddings, I would often document my travels and I would sometimes come across a wedding and think: wow, here is everything I enjoy capturing, all in one place… the culture, the people, the love, the humour, the emotion and the story. This is what motivated me to start shooting weddings, and after my first experience, I knew this is what I wanted to do.

Do you have any tips for our brides and grooms on how to prepare for the day in terms of photography?

Jim: Yes, don’t think about the photography! This is one of the most special days in your life, just relax, have fun, smile, sing, dance, kiss, party… whatever it is you like to do when all of your family and friends get together for a once in a lifetime celebration of love – go and do that! My job is to capture your beautifully unique day, without you having to worry about the photography.
